Your ego is the source of all the thoughts that come into your mind except those that come from God (through the Holy Spirit). Its purpose is to maintain your separation from God and from your brothers. In some people it is very destructive. In others it is more subtle. It only has the power you give it. It lives on your belief in your guilt (or belief you’ve sinned).
