The spiritual path in A Course in Miracles is a path through relationships. The first thing to learn is that there are two kinds of relationships. Special relationships are one kind. Holy relationships are the other kind. In a special relationship each person expects the other to meet his needs and take away his sense of emptiness by making him feel special. When the other fails to do this adequately, he is no longer valued. The problem is that each person has his own purpose for the relationship. This is what is different in the Holy Relationship.
